Why You Shouldn't Cut Corners: The Risks of Hiring a Cheap Wedding DJ
“DON’T WORRY, WE FOUND SOMEONE CHEAPER”
Poor Equipment
Cheap wedding DJs often use subpar or outdated equipment. Low-quality sound and lighting systems can ruin the atmosphere of your wedding. Imagine distorted music, microphone feedback, or flickering lights during your first dance. It's not the memory you want to cherish. A professional DJ invests in top-tier equipment, ensuring that your wedding's audio and visual elements are of the highest quality.
Limited Music Selection
A budget DJ might have a limited music library, which could limit your choice of songs and genre options. An experienced wedding DJ typically has an extensive music collection and can adapt to your preferences, ensuring a diverse playlist that caters to all your guests. Your wedding should reflect your unique style, and a cheap DJ may not be able to provide that personal touch.
Lack of Professionalism
Professionalism is crucial on your wedding day. A cheap DJ may lack the necessary professionalism, arriving late, dressing inappropriately, or even making inappropriate comments during the event. A skilled wedding DJ will act as your Master of Ceremonies, guiding your guests and coordinating with other vendors to ensure a smooth, stress-free experience.
Inadequate Planning and Communication
A budget DJ might not invest the time and effort required to plan your wedding properly. They may not take the time to understand your vision and preferences, leading to a disjointed and unsatisfying music experience. A professional wedding DJ will work closely with you to create a detailed timeline and discuss specific songs, dedications, and special moments, ensuring everything runs seamlessly.
Unreliable Performance
Cheap DJs are often juggling multiple gigs to make ends meet. This can lead to last-minute cancellations or no-shows, leaving you in a difficult situation on your wedding day. A reputable DJ is committed to your event and has a contingency plan in place to ensure they fulfill their obligations.
Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and cutting corners on the entertainment can have a lasting impact on your memories. Hiring a cheap wedding DJ may seem like a cost-effective option, but it comes with a significant risk of disappointment, technical issues, and an overall subpar experience. To ensure a flawless and unforgettable wedding day, invest in a professional DJ who can provide the expertise, equipment, and personalized service that your special occasion deserves. It's a decision you won't regret when you look back on the cherished moments of your wedding day.
Your wedding day is one of the most important and memorable days of your life. It's a celebration of love, unity, and the beginning of a beautiful journey with your partner. Naturally, you want every aspect of your wedding to be perfect, including the music. However, when it comes to hiring a wedding DJ, going for the cheapest option isn't always the best choice. In this blog post, we'll explore the reasons why you should avoid hiring a cheap wedding DJ and invest in the quality and experience that your special day deserves.
Lack of Experience
One of the most significant risks of hiring a cheap wedding DJ is the lack of experience. Experienced DJs know how to read the crowd, mix different music genres, and create a seamless flow of entertainment. They can adapt to unexpected situations and keep the party going smoothly. Inexperienced DJs may struggle to maintain the energy and mood of your event, potentially leading to awkward silences or musical mishaps.

The two biggest complaints about ANY wedding: the food, and the music.
Besides the couple being spectacular, music is a huge aspect of a wedding; whether it be during the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, or the party.
Markoshi can make sure the music is great, but he can’t guarantee how good the prime rib is gonna be.

OMG. Can you imagine a corporate event/staff party without music? Or just want to throw a private party and don’t have a DJ?
It’s gonna suck. So bad. Invest in a good DJ. Markoshi has done corporate events for Nike, Staples, Slack, Costco, Ikea, McDonald’s, and WestJet.
If they trust him, so should you.

I’m an actual DJ. So I use real equipment. Whether it be two turntables and a mixer, or a professional DJ Controller, take solace in the fact that I’m not just “pressing play”.
-
What’s a DJ without a PA system? There are many times where DJs have to rent speakers from a company, and it looks horrible in photos, and/or there’s not enough sound to fill the venue. With the amount of experience he has, he’ll make sure your event has sufficient sound.
-
Lighting. Something typically what is forgotten when trying to hire a DJ for your event. With enough uplighting to fill your venue, and dancefloor lighting for the party, you’ll feel like your event just turned into a nightclub (without all the drunks trying to pick you up when the lights turn on).

That’s a vague question. Every event is different, with different needs. It depends on what the event is, how many guests, how much equipment, travel, etc. Use the form on the right to book a consultation with Markoshi!

Honestly, you’re more than welcome to use a Spotify playlist, but the mood won’t be there for an event - especially a wedding or corporate function. People who thought about using Spotify for their event have actually scrapped that idea once they heard Markoshi at other events.
If you use Spotify, you may as well get takeout food to serve your guests at your wedding or event. Haha jk.
If you’re a booking agent, nightclub manager or owner, you’d want the best DJ representing your brand. Don’t do it with half-assed DJs.
-
Markoshi is an open-format DJ. That means he can play anything, and make sure the flow is still there. There’s a lot of local DJs that say that can DJ, but only cater to one type of crowd. There are also a lot of DJs from Facebook Marketplace or Kijiji, but have never played a club. Markoshi is NOT a wedding or a corporate DJ, but rather a nightclub DJ that can actually play weddings or corporate functions.
-
Markoshi is a RANE DJ through and through. He uses Rane TWELVE turntables, a Rane SEVENTY Mixer, or for smaller events, the Rane ONE DJ Controller.
In terms of sound, in most cases he will use a 4000W line array speaker system, and can bring extra bass bins to fill the room with more thump.
Most mobile or new DJs don’t take the time to invest in their lighting. With Markoshi, you’ll get a wireless DMX LED lightshow, uplighting for the venue, with the ability to match your event colors to the lights.
Oh and awesome “Instagrammable” DJ furniture, ensuring that the set up for all the gear looks clean, no messy cords, and gives a WOW factor for all your guests.
-
Markoshi started playing in 1997. So yeah, that long.
-
While there are some great DJs in the area, it comes down to experience. These events are some of the most important days in your life, so let’s make it perfect.
